COEd nails Mr & Ms PIT 2017 titles

Out of nine competing pairs, the College of Education’s (COEd) representatives Ms. Juliene B. Araño and Mr. Francis Dave Y. Dayandayan nailed the Mister & Miss Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) 2017 titles on August 31 at the PIT Oval Ground.

It has been years since Mr Palompon Institute of Technology was held.

“The word ‘thankful’, for me, sums up all that I am feeling about as Mister PIT 2017. I am amazed by how God works in ways we cannot see in abundantly blessing us. I never really expected this title because, first and foremost, all the candidates were very good, too good to be true for me. Therefore, ‘thankful’ sums it all up,” Dayandayan said.


“I feel so overwhelmed because I didn’t expect to bring home the crown and thankful as well because being the Miss PIT 2017 is a very big opportunity for me to boost my self-confidence,” Araño said.

Araño, 20, also bagged the Best in Swimwear, Ms. Photogenic, Best in Evening Gown, Best in ASEAN Wear, Best in Talent, Best in Production Number and Sergi’s Body awards in the Female category while Dayandayan, 19, reaped the Best in Formal Wear and Best in Talent awards.

Araño also won the Miss PIT Siglakas Title years before.

“Mr. PIT is both an honor and a responsibility and I also believe in the famous saying ‘With great power comes with great responsibility.’ By God’s grace, I will do my very best to embody as ambassador of goodwill and to be a role model to my co-students,” the BSEd II-English Mr. PIT 2017 assured.


BEEd IV Ms. PIT 2017 Araño, being the shortest at 5’3” founds an inspiration through the personality of Maureen Wroblewitz, the Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 winner. “It was because she really stood out despite being the shortest among the contestants. She showed that just by being true to yourself was the only key to become a true winner,” she explained. “The support


“The support and love that I felt from my parents, our coach and my colleagues motivated me throughout the pageant,” Isabelanon Araño added. She also shared that her number one inspiration was her very supportive family all throughout the pageant.


“My only expectation from the pageant was that it would be a successful show. I didn’t expect to win but I expected that whoever would win would be the most deserving to be crowned as the Miss PIT 2017,” Araño retorted.


Becoming a professional teacher, Araño humbly shared the things she learned from the pageant. “I really learned a lot. You needed to give everything you had. I mean, all of your efforts and patience. I learned to stand firm from wearing those high heeled shoes. I learned to be humble all the time,” she expressed.


Striving to become a well-known singer, Best in Formal Wear Dayandayan conveyed that he dedicated his success to God, for without Him, he is nothing.

“He is the source of my strength, wisdom, knowledge, triumph and life. I would like to express my gratitude to my family members because without their consent I would not be up on that stage. Next are my coaches Ma’am Malou (Mrs. Maria Consuelo S. Ramirez) and Ms. Jessalyn Ingles for all their care, sacrifices and belief in our capabilities. To my classmates, friends, supporters and my COEd family, I dedicate this to them,” he specified.


“I just want to thank all the people behind my success for their love and support. I couldn’t achieve this without their support. I’m beyond blessed right now,” Araño ended.

On the other hand, 1st runner-up Reina Flor N. Torniado (CAED) garnered the Ms. Palompon Hinablayan Outdoor award and Kimberly T. Miape (COTE) placed 2nd runner-up under the female category.


In the male category, Carl Noel B. Darantinao (PIT-TC) placed 1st runner-up with the Best in Production Number and Best in ASEAN Attire awards followed by 2nd runner-up Hence Gabriel M. Bacolot (CAS) who also reaped the Best in Swimwear and Sergi’s Body awards.


Moreover, Lindy M. Wenceslao (AAPPIT) and Vincent D. Logro (COTE) got the Mr. and Ms. Congeniality awards. Hycinth Jelle S. Mauring and Aaron R. Calendatas (SHS) received the People’s Choice awards sponsored by the PIT CSPThe Technician and Michael Daryl C. Esporlas (COMEd) gained the Mr. Palompon Hinablayan Outdoor award.


On the other hand, Miss Joy Wencel Briones, Mr. Romeo Castil, Mr. Jerry Moris, Judge Mario O. Quinit and Dr. Dorcas Mejia composed the panel of judges.
